Jaw Sculpting Ritual
(5 Minute Video)
It’s recommended to view the video on full screen (horizontal) and then follow along at home.
Begin at the back of the neck. Wrap the U-edge of the tool across the spine and apply long strokes up to the base of the skull. Then come up the back of the neck right next to the spine, releasing tension in the muscle with firm strokes upwards. Use the long edge of the tool to sweep up the trapezius muscle, up to the back of the ear. And then use the U-edge of the tool to stretch up the sternocleidomastoid, from the collarbone to the ear, easing up on the pressure here.
Then anchor at the collarbone and sweep up the platysma muscle, ending the stroke at the corner of the mouth. Use your supporting hand to add resistance and give this muscle a gentle stretch.
We then wrap the U-edge of the tool under the jawline and sweep towards the ear, ending the stroke with a wiggle just in front of the ear. Keep anchoring with your supporting hand and really hook the tool under the jawline.
Then use the rounded end of the tool to sweep from under the chin to the ear, ending the stroke with a pumping motion. Pressure can be medium and this pumping motion helps to activate the lymph centres.
Next, place the U-edge of the tool directly on the jawbone and sweep up towards the ear. You might notice some crunchiness here so feel free to stop and go over any areas that feel bumpy or tight. We then use the flat edge of the tool to sweep out along the jaw to stimulate the tissue and drain fluid.
We then create guardrails with our supporting hand in front of the ear and apply slow deep strokes with the round edge of the tool to release tension in the masseter muscle. And then use the bumpy side of the tool to further massage and release this area, and then drain down to the collarbone.
We repeat on the other side. Coming up the back of your neck with firm pressure and working into the base of the skull to release tension. Then working in long strokes up the trapezius muscle, up to the back of the ear. And then using the U-edge of the tool to give the sternocleidomastoid a nice stretch from the collarbone up to the ear.
Then anchoring the skin at the collarbone, use long strokes up to the corner of the mouth to stretch out the platysma muscle.
Once again, wrapping the U-edge of the tool under the jawline and sweeping towards the ear. Make sure the movements are precise by anchoring with your supporting hand. Then use the round tip of the tool to sweep from under the chin towards the ear, ending with a pumping motion to stimulate lymphatic drainage. You can repeat all of these strokes three to ten times. Then working along the jaw itself, really taking time to work through any crunchiness and smoothing everything out.
Then use the flat edge of the tool to glide out from your chin towards the ear, just giving this tissue a nice stretch. Next, create guardrails with your supporting hand, positioned in front of the ear, and use slow deep strokes with the round edge of the tool to release tension. Finally use the notched side of the tool to work back and forth to further release tension. And finally drain everything out.
