About Seed to Skin
Seed to Skin is a luxury skincare line formulated using all-natural ingredients and advanced molecular science to harness the true power of nature. Based in Tuscany, the brand is true to its name with ingredients taken straight from the soil on their expansive organic farm before making its way to the onsite laboratory where only the best qualities are extracted. The products are hand crafted using high concentrations of active ingredients that have been clinically tested for proven efficacy and are designed to penetrate even the deepest layers of the skin.
Proprietor and brand founder Jeanette Thottrup wanted to develop science-driven skin solutions which combine herbal science and holistic healing. The skincare line is created at Borgo Santo Pietro; a hotel nestled amongst Tuscany’s mineral-rich countryside - surrounded by river and thermal springs. Joining forces with cosmetologist Anna Buonocore, a doctor with over 15 years laboratory experience, Thottrup combined her knowledge of natural ingredients with scientific expertise to form a natural molecular system.
Seed to Skin products are expertly formulated in small batches at Borgo and this effective, organic skincare brand is deeply committed to transparency, sustainability, purity and efficacy.

I’m truly passionate about skincare and spend a lot of time researching and testing natural skincare. It’s somewhat of a personal obsession but also essential for me to find the best natural skincare products on the market - that not only align with my treatments, but that I can wholeheartedly recommend to clients.
When I decided to partner with Seed to Skin, it was important to me that I visit the lab and farm in Tuscany, and see exactly where the products come from. The team at Seed to Skin were extremely kind and helpful in hosting me and giving a full tour of the impressive Borgo Santo Pietro estate. From the spa where they offer Seed to Skin treatments, to the certified organic farm and herb house where they distill their own essential oils, to the laboratory where they hand craft and bottle each product - it was truly inspiring to see the passion, quality and principles behind this brand.
The Farm
The organic farm at Borgo Santo Pietro is a 220-acre expanse of rolling hills which is home to honeybees, sheep, free-range chickens, alpacas and more; all of which are utilised in the restaurant, hotel and skincare laboratory on site. There are also vineyards, fruit trees and an extensive vegetable and botanical garden.
The team at Borgo are dedicated to sustainability and have gone to great lengths to restore the eco-balance of the land and are committed to maintain soil integrity in order to provide the highest quality natural, organic and wild ingredients.
The farm provides a medley of fresh ingredients for Seed to Skin and what they don’t grow themselves, they source from a highly selective group of environmentally conscious micro-producers and wild foragers. Seed to Skin products are nutrient-dense and made using the purest botanicals straight from the farm.
The Herb House
One of my favourite parts of the tour at Borgo Santo Pietro was visiting the Herb House where they create their own essential oils and botanical extracts fresh from the farm. Rosehip, lavender, calendula, peppermint, rosemary and hypericum are just some of the essential elements used in the creation of the skincare collection.
During our visit they had a fresh batch of melissa being distilled which smelled absolutely delightful and gave me new appreciation for The Divine Cleanse which has melissa (lemonbalm) as once of the main scent profiles and is also known for its antibacterial and antiviral properies. We also saw store rooms filled with herbs, flowers drying in trays, and jars of essential oil infusions which we sampled and were incredibly pure and fresh.
The Lab
The Seed to Skin collection is produced exclusively in the onsite laboratory at Borgo Santo Pietro. To ensure uncompromised quality control, not a single step of the production is outsourced to third parties. Instead, all of the products are individually handmade onsite and assigned their own batch numbers, guaranteeing the utmost transparency, traceability and integrity.
Each Seed to Skin formula has been methodically developed and tested to the highest of standards by their team of skincare experts and scientists. The products have undergone rigorous testing to ensure their efficacy and clinical trials have proven that after using the recommended daily skincare ritual for a 30-day period, there is a visible increase in skin regeneration.
There are no synthetic fillers or preservatives in the products, and also no artificial colours or fragrances, parabens or GMOs.
The Spa
Nestled in the estate is the spa and gardens which offer guests a luxury wellness retreat. The spa is particularly aligned with the therapeutic origins of Borgo Santo Pietro which originally served as a healing retreat for medieval pilgrims. The holistic therapies offered make use of fresh herbs and raw materials from the garden and guests can even choose to have their treatment in the spa garden, surrounded by nature.
